It also saw her develop an interest in cycling, partaking in the Great Lake Cycle Challenge for many years.

A 3 year hiatus from optometry saw Renee pack her back pack for some interesting travel experiences where she worked as a tour manager for Contiki Holidays throughout Europe.

Outside of Optometry Shannon is heavily involved in Stagecraft, a non-professional theatre group who she produces, directs and performs with.

Bill McClellan

Hmm the last testament.

Guess who

But now he’s history!

Having sold his share of the Practice to Renee as mentioned above, and done a few years of occasional days he left the practice for good at the end of 2016. He observes;

“ It has been a wonderful forty six years. Ups and downs, stock market crash, global financial crises and the eternal hassles of tenancies.

During that time I have had wonderful staff, superior Optometrists to work with, among them two fine partners. The first, Bob Cocks when I joined Cocks and Newall, and then his successor the inimitable Peter Grimmer. I have been very fortunate.

I am left however with the greatest satisfaction of all, the memory of the hundreds of neat people  who have “sat in my chair” over those years.

I was blessed to get to know many of you as time passed, and grow up and older with so many of you, your parents, your children.

Thank you and good fortune to all of you. You are the stuff of my memories.

However your needs probably persist, and it is with absolute confidence and not a little pride that I leave you to the ministrations of Peter, Renee, Shannon and their great staff. They all continue to improve the standard of care and attention that attracted me to this Practice those years ago.”

Jenny is one of the front desk team you will meet upon arriving at McClellan Grimmer Edgar.  Jenny has worked in the optical industry for over a decade, and has had the opportunity to meet and work with a few different  Wellington based optometrists during that time.  As well as being in the industry for a while, she fills the roll of “Mother Hen” at the front desk with enthusiasm when it’s needed.

Jenny enjoys a good cup of coffee, and finds this fills her with enthusiasm.  Please don’t ever let her have two in one day, as you won’t be able to get her to stop talking!

Hobbys for Jenny are reading, driving in the country, movies, and history.
